Quilt Pattern Basket - Complete with Paper Flowers

Happy Friday to My Friends.

I have been waiting all week to show you today's project.  It is rare that I finish something and say, "Yes - that's how I meant it to look".  But it happened when I finished this hanging bit of artwork.

When I was thinking about this, I was planning to just make a card that looked like a quilted basket and flowers cut out of triangles.

But as my plan progressed, I decided to make an art piece that would hang from a length of pearl and glass beads.

I covered an eight inch heavy chipboard circle with blue patterned paper and then cut some 1 1/4" squares using a small Spellbinders square die.  I cut each square in half and then placed the resulting triangles in a pattern forming the basket.  I placed a white pearl at the intersections of the triangles.

Once my basket was complete ( the really quick part) I started making the flowers.  I used lots of flower dies from MFT Stamps.  I rolled two sizes of roses and formed two sizes of  layered daisies.  I also rolled some plain flowers and rolled a few daisies.  I placed a pearl bead into the center of each flower.  I also lightly rubbed platinum Stickles over the top of each flower.  If you look closely, you will see the rim of the circle also dons platinum Stickles.

Once all of my posies were ready, I just arranged them in a way that filled the basket.  I also added a few tiny purchased flowers and one piece of lace.  The butterfly on the left is also from a MFT Stamps die.  You have seen me use it before.

For the final touches, I added the "shelf" below the basket, a ribbon on the right, some leaves, the chain and one very large bauble.  Do you see the tiny pink border on the "shelf"?  Yes  it's made from a MFT Die.

I am sure I will eventually give this piece as a gift, so I will show you the gift card that coordinates with it tomorrow.

See you then,

Susie
