Happy Birthday #1 Son in Law

At first, I didn't realize how much I liked this week's color palette in our Summer Card Camp weekly challenge. Then I noticed my little friend, Sock Monkey and it all made sense to me.

So brown + neutrals + red - not a new idea after all!  Here is a reminder of our color challenge for this week:

I wanted to make one more card for the student gallery and I needed a birthday card for my son-in-law, so out came the dies and the papers.

I didn't use any stamps on this project.  Instead I typed the sentiments I needed and then die cut them.

I used two Spellbinders Standard Circles and for the brown mat, I used an Inverted Scalloped Circle die, also from Spellbinders.

The streamers are cut with dies from PaperTrey Ink.  And by the way, their July release is this very night.  Run over to their forum for the release party tonight.  I know I'll be there.

Behind the circles, I layered in chipboard circles cut the same size.  I wanted the 'award' to pop off the card.  I use this trick often.  I think it makes my projects more stable than when I use dimensional dots.

The last die I used is from the Nested Hearts Spellbinders set.  I needed just one more way to let Taylor know how much we adore him.

Please come back to see me tomorrow.  I am finishing up a really fun 3-D project to show you and will post it right here.  See you then,

Susie
